Developmental & Psychological Assessments for Young Children

Early identification and intervention is key to helping your child to meet their best potential.

Growing Minds Assessment Center evaluates children as young as 12 months of age.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism is everywhere, and 1 in 36 children are diagnosed. Reaching a diagnosis requires having a comprehensive assessment with a professional who has expertise in autism. This is because there are no medical exams, like blood tests, to diagnose autism. You may need an evaluation, if your child is showing:

  • Delays in development, especially language

  • Regression or loss of skills

  • Limited social interest

  • Avoids or has poor eye contact

  • Does not respond to name

  • No pointing or using gestures

  • Lines up toys and plays repetitively

  • Repeats words or phrases

  • Has obsessive interests

  • Flaps hands, rocks body, spins

  • Reacts unusually to sound, smell, look, taste, and feel

Developmental & Psychological

Comprehensive assessments are also provided if you have other concerns such as:

  • Learning, cognitive, and intellectual problems

  • Difficulties coping, fearfulness, worries, trouble separating, sadness

  • Tantrums and meltdowns

  • Poor attention

  • Aggressive behaviors

  • Trauma

  • High stress

Assessments

Comprehensive evaluations (ages 12 months to 5 years) are completed. If applicable, information from other providers that are involved in your child’s life such as his/her teacher, pediatrician, and therapists is gathered. Assessments are in-person with you and the psychologist to observe how your child plays and interacts. Top of the line and “gold” standard tools are used to answer your questions. You will receive same-day feedback and recommendations. A full report will be completed within 3 weeks of the assessment.
